outfit: favorite new trend

The other day my grandma and I got lunch and went shopping, which was lovely as always.  Since colorful jeans are everywhere lately, I've been looking out for a pair that would work for me.  Since I tend to wear bright colors, these teal ones fit the ticket.  Plus, this color reminds me of my grandma, who also loves it. 

While my grandma always looks polished and stylish, I tend to be all over the place, hoping it makes sense to someone other than myself. I do admit that matching an outfit is very important, but I have a rather unorthodox way of doing it.  Sometimes I think I worry my grandma, because I'm always saying, "Oh, I will find something to go with that!"  So this one's for you!

When I see blue, I tend to want to put green or yellow with it, so I put on this yellow top and belted it (because I'm a belt addict).  I have a headband that is the same shade of blue with a pink flower, so I put that on too.  THEN I REMEMBERED I HAD THE PERFECT CLUTCH.  So I added it, accessorized, and ta-da!  A colorful, yet matched ensemble.

People always ask me, "How do you come up with your outfits?"  Well, here you go.  I'm just a crazy colorful mess that somehow comes together by some miracle.

My family and I spent a couple days by the pool at the Wild Horse Pass Resort to celebrate the 4th of July.  It was really relaxing reading by the pool and dipping in every so often to cool off!  Sometimes you just have to escape to the middle of nowhere in the desert...

Today was just cool enough for a bike ride, thanks to a much-needed day of rain.  RAIN!  I was thrilled to wake up to rain this morning.  I am very thankful the novelty hasn't worn off after living in Portland for a year.  Yet, you can't really compare that rain to desert rain.  Here rain is such a magical rarity and the strength of our monsoons are incredible.

I spent a lovely day enjoying the weather while cleaning (Ted arrives so soon!) and listening to my rainy day go-to music--my Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme record.  My favorite track is The Dangling Conversation...  Definitely my favorite Simon & Garfunkel song.

Today was very low-key.  That's okay though, because the last two days were spent by the pool, and the days ahead will be full of excitement.

Instead of congregating at my grandparents' house like usual, we spent this past Sunday in Dewey, AZ.  We wanted to visit a farm we visited years ago, so we did.  Unfortunately since then the owner has changed and it's in a state of transition.  No biggie though, because we still had fun!  Afterwards we found a diner called Blue Hills Cafe and enjoyed some top-notch greasy food.

All you need:  An embarrassingly large collection of fortune cookie fortunes, mod podge, and a canvas board.


All you do:  Decide on whether you want the board horizontal or vertical and start gluing them down with the mod podge.  I always go crazy with mod podge, so I slather it under and on top of everything.  That's it.
