10 things that make me happy

Tryon.  I loved walking (or attempting to jog) through this state park nearby this summer.  Hopefully I can find some dry days to enjoy it this semester.  I also went to a jazzy concert there alone one beautiful night.  I stared at the adorable westie named Gretel in front of me the entire time and soaked up the good company of middle aged Portlanders.

Claire's visit.  It was magical.  We had so much fun just hanging out, watching Hercules, HIMYM, making lasagna, and hitting our favorites--Tea Chai Te and Little Big Burger.  I miss her already!

Treatin yo'self.  Salt & Straw ice cream during the Bachelorette finale (I know, forever ago--I'm behind on blogging) and Jade Bistro dinner after browsing Sellwood one lovely summer day.

Sex & the City.  'Nuff said.

Portland Art Museum.  I looked at everything, but the most hoppin' place in the building was the Cyclepedia exhibit.  Portlanders like their bikes.  A lot.

My assistant costume design internship.  We pulled some stuff, but mostly went shopping multiple times.  IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.  I'm so excited for the show.

Reading for FUN.  Recently I've read Quiet, The Age of Miracles, and Looking for Alaska.

Savory pastry.  Obviously.  Claire, Kenzie, and I explored Alberta in the rain after a little Vintage by the Pound and Petite Provence love.  It was quite lovely.

Seattle road trip with Ted. I will post pictures soon!

Fall approaching.  Ted and I went to Safeway today and when we left, we saw this fluffy black dog near the tiny pumpkins, firewood, and pouring rain.  It was almost too much for me to handle.  I was so overwhelmed with happiness.

It's been pouring all day, the fall boots and cardigans have been broken out, and now I must finish some reading for my one class tomorrow morning.  Life is good.  Especially when there are tiny pumpkins.

Dates with Ted.  I love hanging out with this guy.  We always have so much fun whatever we're doing--even if it's packing. But it's SO nice to take a break for an hour and get some sushi.  Especially when we are in the midst of packing.  Also:  I officially get to see him again in less than a week!

My newly-discovered love of Ben & Jerry's "Chocolate Therapy" ice cream.  IT IS SO GOOD.  I have never been a chocolate ice cream person, but when Claire found an abandoned melted one of these outside a dorm kitchen fridge and grabbed it for us to eat that night (that's college for ya, folks)....well, it was love at first scoop.  I insisted that I buy some to power through the packing with Ted the other night. It worked.

Arrested Development. Yes. So stoked for the new season!

Eating outside.  Monday was beautiful, but of course Portland has been raining the rest of the week. It's been raining almost constantly.  Oh well.  Monday was a lovely day, and I soaked it up as much as possible.

Time to read books for fun!  I have this book to finish (I started it over Spring break!) and a pile of more books to begin.  So thankful for summertime reading.  Monday I read outside a good amount--a great way to spend an afternoon.

I get to go home soon to my lovely family (!!!!!)...

 ...and cuddle this cutie.

Daydreaming about London.  Posts like this one make me swoon.

A dog visit.  This is the dog of the landlord of the house I am currently living in.  Buddy was pretty sweet (not as sweet as Izzy though).

And lastly, I'm happy to have been given this random two week opportunity to live "on my own" in Portland (I have an internship through school) so I get a taste of college life outside of the dorms, and most importantly, of you know, REAL LIFE.  Like...buying groceries and deciding what to do with myself each day...that weird stuff.

Life is weird, but it's good.

10 things that make me happy

Spring Break with my lovely family & friends:  Going to reading under the stars, lunch, and track & field at my mom and sister's elementary school, antiquing with grandparents, eating, reading, sewing, catching up with friends, having prime little sister time, Wednesday PJ's and 1/2 priced yogurt, brunch and movie with family,  sushi with my aunt, Easter with my grandparents a week early, watching bad movies on Netflix, hanging out with Izzy, shopping and lunch with my grandma, dyeing eggs, making mini Easter cupcakes, Easter on Easter, HOUSE HUNTERS...and then some.

This.

I found this on the floor in my room.  Yep.

The best MAX trip on my way back to campus ever:  enjoying a green tea frappuccino (thanks for the gift card, momma) and rereading my acceptance email for London over and over.

A house to live in part of this summer/next semester.  Can't wait to decorate my tiny room!

Parks & Recreation Netflix binge (and that time I had all my classes canceled and crafted).  I'M OBSESSED.

Going to the Sellwood Tea Chai Te with my favorite people here (Ted and Claire).  Rose & Black milk bubble teas all around.  Also, I peeked in a few cute stores, antique stores, the craft store (obviously) and found a couple things at a toy store (and made a friend with the little league kiddo in front of me with a chinese finger trap).

Mad Men came back!  Ready for this season's drama (but mostly this season's costumes).

Other things not encapsulated in pictures:
Trying to eat healthier.
Wearing bright colors.  Feelin' more Kaylie in my springtime clothes.

Having visitors.  Just this past week two of my best friends visited, and recently some family visited.

Libraries.  Being in them, looking at them, dreaming about them.  This one I found on Pinterest.  (See my Librarian For Life board.)

Tea Chai Te knowing me and Erin's zodiac signs.

Spotting cacti at Anthro.

Spring.  Snow and blooming roses.  Cool.

The Hunger Games (which I read literally right before seeing the midnight premiere).  Jennifer Lawrence,  the outlandish Capitol costumes (check out this interview with the costume designer), and wearing Claire's mom's necklace from the 70's that looks remarkably like the mockingjay pin.

Oh YEAH--THE COSTUMES FROM WICKED.  Ted and I saw the show a few weeks ago and I fell in love.  See an awesome video about the costumes here.

This sweet idea for a necklace.

Pencil shaving collar -- I must make this!

Disposable camera pictures.
