how precious

blouse - j. crew hand-me-down from my mom
make-shift skirt - actually an anthro dress
belt - made my me (orginally used for my 5th grade Halloween costume as a 50's girl...now I'm a 50's girl every other day)
flats - nordstrom's

This was my attempt to defeat my jetlag the first day home: my greatest weapon against life's defects is an outfit that makes me feel well put-together.

I sound like Blair... Tell me, how many of you watch Gossip Girl? I'm curious...

if you don't think Katy Perry is the most adorable thing ever...

...you are seriously misguided. Seek help immediately.

France (Paris, Chartres)

Everything in Paris is just so REGAL-looking. Not in a pompous way, just a sort of casual, yeah, that's how we roll-way. I dig it.

My first purchase: une baguette et trois macarons. YUM!

Ah, the magnificent TRAFFIC. They make it look so glamorous!

The Eiffel Tower played PEEK-A-BOO with the skyline.

GOLD, everywhere.

The SEINE.

My favorite place at the LOUVRE.

NAPOLEON'S apartments: The location of my next dinner party?

The street lined outside the Louvre held some serious shopping opportunities...I was mostly concerned about getting my taste buds around a strange-looking sweet called a MONT BLANC. Best 5 euros I've ever spent... Other than the euros I spent on those macarons...

At the METRO, waiting for a connection--time to break out the Mont Blanc.

OH NO--the train came too quickly! (I look so worried about not getting a chance to eat it...)

GIANT HBP poster at the Metro station!

The Seine at NIGHT (we were on a riverboat--it was quite chilly).

City of LIGHTS or intro to Gossip Girl?

You know what it IS...

From the very TOP of the Eiffel Tower (using zoom).

The first thing I did in Chartres? Buy FOOD...

A window portraying the ZODIAC at Chartres Cathedral.

WOW.

I definitely miss all those FLOWERS.

England (York, Stratford, London)

HORSES, in York.

It RAINED quite a bit at times...

To avoid taxes, very SMALL windows were made.

A ROSE window...somewhere? York Minster, perhaps?

The ceiling of a magnificant ROOM.

Even the hedgework read SHAKESPEARE in Stratford.

The playwright's own BIRTHPLACE.

MOSS-covered gravestones outside Shakespeare's church.

Beautiful STORIES were told in colored glass. (What if you had bad eyesight?)

Anne Hathaway's (Shakespeare's wife--sorry for the confusion!) COTTAGE...

...where the flowers were NOT scarce.

Well hello there, LONDON!

I see you've got a gay pride PARADE going on...

Where did all these people COME from?

Beats me why this shot is taken from so HIGH.

Out on the TOWN after the Phantom of the Opera.

A London BRIDGE!

People LIVE here, at the Tower of London.

Now, what is THIS place?

None other than DIAGON ALLEY...or rather where they magiked the set for the films!

HBP posters were EVERYWHERE in Europe, to my delight.

The British Museum was quite SNAZZY.

I especially liked the old BOOKS.

This would have to be my dream SAILBOAT, bright and made of recycled materials!

Bye, LONDON.
