seriously?

You know that awkward moment when someone younger than you is cooler than you will ever be?  Let me introduce you to Elle Fanning, age 13 and Chloe Moretz, age 14.

Elle Fanning has been in numerous movies and was completely charming in Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere," which is when I decided she was the coolest preteen ever.  I definitely see a fashion icon in the making.  Here are photos from her Marie Claire spread.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME

And then there's Chloe Moretz, who has also been in numerous movies, like (500) Days of Summer, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Kick-Ass (which she was awesome in and made me feel proud to look like a 12 year old). She just seems so cool and mature for her age.  Here are photos from her Nylon spread.

WAY TO MAKE ME FEEL IRRELEVANT
I want to be you.

annoying

Ireland 2009
You know the feeling you get when the person who gets on your nerves the most...well, gets on your nerves?  Not a good feeling.  But there is something worse, I think.

Today is one of those days when the person I am most annoyed with is myself.  What do you do when this happens, you ask?  Well, I didn't know either, so I just wallowed in my annoyance, reading old Word documents like I do every six months or so.  As I was reading some old poems I wrote forever and a half ago, I found something to focus my angst on, something to truly be annoyed about, perhaps something even to be angry about.  Okay, maybe angry isn't the right word.  It made me sad:  I haven't written a poem in years.  So I wrote one just now about not writing one for so long.  Here it is...

drinking up the excess
i feel parched by the past

did i lose touch of myself
or was it just a phase
of phrases i thought i knew
the meaning reversed?
dried up words
shriveled up with disuse
imagination took a wrong turn
and hasn’t found its way home

Are you ever annoyed with yourself?  What do you do to feel better?  Am I asking too many questions?

team blair

I will admit I am more partial to brunette characters (Okay, completely--especially Blair and Rachel), but I have good reason.  I will always be Team Blair, Team Rachel, Team Every-character-Zooey Deschanel plays.  Here's why:
  • Brunettes are portrayed as more independent & strong-willed
  • Their style is more classic, retro, and preppy--LOVE!
  • They are usually shown as more serious/academic

As for the Serena/Blair debate:
  • Blair is all of the above and also has a killer attitude--you don't want to mess with B.
  • Serena is laid-back and all, but she can be pretty careless about the choices she makes and the guys she gets involved with.
  • Blair can be very mischevious and mean, but her brutal honesty is what makes her so lovable.
  • Serena shows too much skin.  Period.  I think modesty is sexier.  Plus, Blair has better lingerie anyway.
  • Blair is always put together and has a goal in mind to accomplish.  She doesn't stop until she gets what she wants.  Granted, not always is this in her best interest, but I admire her drive.
  • Serena tries to be all boho when she's really a socialite wearing thousands of dollars.  Come on.
  • Blair knows who she is. What's better than that?

  • What team are you?

today i am thankful for...moccasins

...because they keep my feet warm around the house.  It's as simple as that.

i don't know what to say

...other than that you should avoid taking a sip of anything (must less a sierra mist to settle your stomach--I've been sick the last few days) before viewing this....

I was in hysterics for a full two minutes (partially due to an untimely sip of sierra mist--I had no idea what I was getting myself into)...  Overall, a very good thing after feeling so miserable at school today (Thank goodness it was a half-day).

whoops...

My plans to see Where the Wild Things Are today with my friends Erin and Domenico didn't pan out. This secretly tore me apart, because being the anxious six-year-old I truly am, I can't possibly wait another week for a movie I desperately want to see. I mean, can you imagine waiting more than a day to see the newest Harry Potter? It felt pretty close to that. So when my grandma and I found the antique store already closed, we headed straight for a Harkins.

And then I fell in love. It made me so happy. (And yes, I will definately see it again next weekend.)

The music!
The colors! (I am a sucker for a stellar color scheme in films--I finally watched the second half of The Darjeeling Limited yesterday and the colors pretty much blew my mind.)
The cinematography!
The sets!
The Wild Things!

And for the record, Max Records is cooler than I will ever be.

i miss it

Mark my words, one day you will be reading about my adventures studying abroad in Ireland my sophomore year. If you need any reassurance whatsoever, just look at the green. This was not edited. It is THAT green. My promise is to true as Ireland is to green...

APRIL 20?!!!!

What's going down? They want me to cry. I miss it already.
Also, found this while looking for the preview and thought it was funny...

Hah! Just like those Meth: Not even once commercials. So funny.

Coraline

This stop-motion animation film was a lot of fun! It would have been killer in 3D had that been available...(took me about a half hour into the movie to get over that one). While the offbeat humor skated over most of the young children there, my friends and I had frequent fits of giggles--the guy who sat beside me seemed to catch on too. Always quirky, sometimes creepy, Coraline* was a charming way to spend a Friday evening (and $9.50--geez!).

*Though linked to (they worked together on The Nightmare Before Christmas), this is not a Tim Burton film. It hails from Henry Selick, who while sharing a style that is rather similar, obviously trades in Burton's dreary palate for lush, popping colors.
