photo diary: life with ted

When I arrived Sunday morning, Ted and I finally had five days to do our Kaylie/Ted things, like eating yummy food, making yummy food, watching movies, and making fun of each other.  He was the perfect host, even though he made me watch the newest episode of True Blood while he made us challah French toast one morning.  I don't have many pictures of the first few days, because honestly we were too busy driving around, being lazy, and enjoying each other's company.  I do have lots of pictures of our last two days together though, so be excited for that.

photo diary: crystal cove & laguna beach

We loved Crystal Cove!  We had a ton of fun tide pooling while waiting for a table at the delicious Beachcomber.  I had the Lobster Roll--yum!  The weather was overcast, but that was fine with us.  We watched the residential crabs, urchins, and clams.

After walking around the quaint Crystal Cove, we headed back towards our "villa" and hit up all the cute shops.  Ted introduced us to The Hat Box and my dad got a hat as an early Father's Day gift.  (Now he's in the hat club--our club picture is above.)  We also found an adorable home store called Tuvalu (Ted got me a pelican matchbox to add to my bird matchbox collection). Between truffles, gelato at Gelato Paradiso, and Sunrises at Zinc, I'd say it was a wonderful time had by all.

When we got back to our place, Kendal and I made a mermaid much like the one we made years ago in Alabama.  She has seaweed hair and a seaweed bra.  We found a few shells and put it on her flippers.  Kendal named her Pearl.  For dinner, we took over the huge deck with a beautiful view of the ocean to grill kabaabs.  It was a lovely last night at the beach with the family and Ted.

The next morning we packed up, went to breakfast at The Cottage, and headed to Ted's to drop me off.

Ted will probably be mad that I posted this, but I think he's posted enough awful pictures of me on Facebook that it's okay.  Plus... I look pretty bad in this one too.  

But just look at him.  I miss him so much already.  Already counting down the days until he visits here!

Okay, I'm done being cutesy.  I just couldn't resist.

photo diary: disneyland

What would a trip to Southern California be without Disneyland?  My family and I enjoyed our sunny day at the happiest place on earth with happiness, a parade, Fantasmic, glittery inspiration, and overpriced food.  The only downside was that when my dad and I went to Splash Mountain to redeem our fast passes, it was just closing down.  Thankfully it reopened later in the day, but the same thing happened with Space Mountain!  But that's okay, because we got to ride them both in the end and all the other rides were easy to get on (we even went on Pirates and Small World twice, but maybe that's because those are my parents' favorite rides).  Like always, Disneyland made for a lovely time. Also, I'd take any excuse to channel Minnie Mouse.

photo diary: laguna beach & irvine

A couple of weeks ago my family and I stayed at the lovely Sunset Cove Villas in Laguna Beach for a few days.  We had fun relaxing on the beach, taking walks, and reading while enjoying the cool weather (a vast change from the 110 degree weather we drove away from).  My family met Ted for the first time, and I am happy to report to you that they approved, although I'm not sure why they wouldn't because he's just the best. The five of us went to dinner at Coyote Grill the first night for yummy fish tacos, and Ted showed us the beautiful beach nearby as we waited for a table.

After beach dwelling the third day, we went to Irvine with Ted for some Asian food, boba, and a concert at UCI where Ted's mom teaches.  Yep, the parentals met and it wasn't too stressful!
