living things

I was a bit hesitant when I read about Peter Bjorn and John's new album. It didn't seem to give off the same light, bouncy vibe that I had come to love them for--Yes, I'm one of those people who read album reviews. Yet ike with many things in life, I was wrong to hesitate. I love their new (yet very familiar) sound. They still make me want to dance.

bon voyage!

Sadies was tonight. Thank goodness. A reason to dress up.

Erin, Domenico, Caleb, and I met up with Rylee, Chase, and Phoebe at Joe's Farm Grill for dinner. It was lovely. Rylee noted that it basically felt like we were at our lunch table at school (JFG is lowkey and trendy with picnic tables and trees--best thing ever).

At the cabin-y cafe a few yards away, I ate my first sparkled cupcake. It was lemon and delicious. I guess I never considered the possibility of edible sparkles. This rocked the foundation of my world. Expect sparkly frosting for life.

The dance was very dance-esque: not that great, but memorable in the Sixteen Candles kind of way. If only they would have played 80's music. I would have danced a lot more in that case.

Speaking of sixteen candles! Today was Rylee's 16th birthday. We all remembered it. We even ambushed her with silly string to wake her up this morning and she may have slightly hated us for just a moment. Then we went for breakfast.

Productive day!

I CAN NOT stop listening to Electric Feel for the LIFE OF ME.

Tell me. How can one song sound SO GOOD?

circus in the snow

Being the cool kid I am, I went to winter formal solo tonight...unless you count my huge yearbook Nikon as a date. (Hey, it was my ticket in!) Anyway, it turned out really cute. The theme was "Circus in the Snow" which of course entailed mock booths, tons of popcorn/animal crackers, and don't forget those silly wooden photo opts (Erin + Domenico, right). Everyone looked their spiffiest--I quite enjoyed people-watching and was especially entertained by the interesting dance moves I witnessed. Still working on the dancing in public thing though...

P.S. CUTEST COUPLE EVER SPOTTED. Western apparel involved. A bit envious!

the new year

I plan to... overcome my fear of dancing in public, keep stress at a minimum, and focus on each moment just as it appears. I want to live an overall more simple life, without the overpopulation of premature thoughts and actions. (It's taking me a lot of willpower not to begin preparing for Valentine's Day, let me tell you!)
