Our school flag is always 2942938479328x more awesome than the others.  This year's camp theme was Seeing Green...Hence us being green fruits and veggies.  No biggie.

Also, GUESS WHAT.  When we were walking to the hypnotist show, there was a concert going on on campus.  There was an opening act playing at the time, but later Phoenix and MGMT were due to play!  Yes!  You better believe I ran as fast as I could to get to the open-air amphitheatre after the hypnotist show. WE GOT THERE JUST IN TIME FOR ELECTRIC FEEL!  It was awesome.  I feel so deprived of concerts.  We would have stayed outside the gates longer, but a TA from camp kicked us out.  Bummer.  (But at least I got to scream and dance to one of my favorite songs.)

This yearbook is going to be snazzy.  This school year is going to be snazzy.  Life is good.

i can't tell who I am in love with more

The other night Kate and I started watching season one of Flight of the Conchords.  I am so in love with these crazy cats.  Why do all the hilariously awesome shows only last a few seasons long?  (RIP Arrested Development)  Sad news.  Here's something to cheer you up:

Payson for the weekend

I managed to escape the heat once again this past weekend in Payson!

A family friend of ours has a cabin up there--it is basically everything a log cabin in Arizona should be.

(Bonus points for the tapestry hanging high on the wall.)  The weather was great.  At times it was a bit warm, but there was on and off rain that cooled the weather down tremendously.  Isn't rain lovely like that?

(Another adorable country kitchen!)  We went on hikes, played intense games of Mexican Train and Cranium, and I got in some reading on the porch.  Life is good.

And don't forget another pie!  (This time apple.)  I suppose I am honing my pie-making skills this summer.

4th of July Weekend

For the 4th, I went up to Flagstaff with my friend Dahlya's family!

We had a blast--heart-shaped sunglasses and purple parasol included.  It was such a great thing to be able to go back to Flagstaff after my day trip there a week before.  We walked downtown and took advantage of all the festivals going on.  (My favorite was the farmer's market. So many delicious samples.  Yum!)

The weather was to die for--it was about 25 degrees cooler than here in the Valley.  I couldn't stop saying how beautiful it was!  It was perfect for the picnic we had one day after a hike.

It was so nice to get away for a few days.  I was so happy to just sit down to read or embroider!  This summer has been a little nuts.  I felt like it was the first time I got to slow down to enjoy summer!

Dahlya's dog Maizy was my faithful reading buddy.

I am in love with kitchens lately.  Dahlya's family's was so cute!  Although it didn't hurt that Dahlya was always making us awesome food in it, either.

To end the weekend, we made some cherry pie. It was quite lovely.  How was your 4th of July weekend?
